Pancakes!

Cooking continues to be a challenge here in Glasgow. Megan, Aldonza, and I decided to try to make pancakes. We found this mix that was more like a bread, or cake mix or something. At first the mix was way too watery, so then we adjusted the recipe, as only we know how to do, by adding more mix.

Eventually we got the pancakes to some sort of normal-looking state. The last pancake was the best one though. It had an eye in it! Like the Virgin Mary grilled-cheese!

Then it was time to get down to eating. Megan was thrilled, I'm sure.

And the consistency of the pancakes was...exactly what we were going for.

Something particularly exciting about this pancake adventure, was that Aldonza showed us how she and her family eats pancakes in Mexico! Apparently they pour condensed milk on them, like we do with syrup. It was pretty amazing, and a tradition I might take up when I get home.

The final exciting aspect of this meal was that we didn't have enough cups! Yay! I got to drink my water from measuring cup (which I'm totally bringing home because it has ounces and stuff instead of cups on it!)

So that is all for our cooking adventure. It is always fun to try to cook with little to no materials, but I am looking forward to being home where there are enough pots and pans for the number of courses I'm trying to cook. Woo hoo!
